BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER
Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm with weekly rotation of ‘on call’ availability required.
NYS Retirement System and health benefits.
Sick time begins immediately with vacation time after six months.
Distinguishing Features of the Class:
This class involves performance of skilled maintenance and repair tasks. Incumbents generally devote most of their time to work of a single specialized field but are required to occasionally perform maintenance tasks in other areas as the occasion demands. In this respect, the class differs from such classes as Painter Carpenter, Plumber, etc which limits incumbents to a single trade. Duties of this class differ from those of Maintenance Worker by reason of the more skilled nature of the work involved and increased responsibilities. Employees in this class perform their duties with latitude for independent planning and laying out work details in completing assigned projects. The incumbent may either function on a particular task independently or as part of a number of workers performing maintenance and repair tasks of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature. The incumbent does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the application form:
- Graduation from high school or possession of an appropriate equivalency diploma recognized by NYS Department of Education, AND:
- Two (2) YEARS of experience in general building construction or maintenance activities involving application of carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades techniques AND
- Eligibility for an appropriate level New York State driver’s license at time of application; possession of license at time of appointment
- OR any equivalent combination of training and experience above
Special requirement:
At time of appointment must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License appropriate to the vehicles operated. Candidates must be a legal resident of Montgomery County.
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Distinguishing Features of the Class:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a wide range of highly confidential, complex, and responsible executive-level administrative support to the Executive Director (ED). Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Executive Assistant assists the Executive Director with all special projects, performing secretarial and administrative duties as required. The Executive Assistant to the Executive Director is privy to all such decisions and correspondence before they are publicly announced or even before the decisions are actually formed. This, essential to the position is the confidentiality of the work performed and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with any internal or external contacts of the Amsterdam Housing Authority
All activities must support the Amsterdam Housing Authority’s (“AHA”) mission, strategic goals, and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered university with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences, human services or a related field OR
- Graduations from a regionally accredited or NYS registered university with a Associates Degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences, human services or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing executive-level support; OR
- Graduation from high school and four (4) years of full-time paid experience in public contact work, public relations, or executive-level support; OR
- A satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience defined by the limits of (A) through (C) above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
This position requires regular driving for business purposes. The incumbent is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must have the ability to be insurable under the AHA’s automobile insurance plan at the standard rate.
