Established in 1957, the Amsterdam Housing Authority is overseen by its own Board of Commissioners and operates independently from the City of Amsterdam.

While AHA operates independently, we are a Civil Service employer partnering with the City of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Housing Authority has positions classified as Labor, Non-Competitive, and Open-Competitive.

For positions that are subject to examination, AHA utilizes current Civil Service candidate lists for individuals who have already taken the applicable examination.

For positions that are not subject to examination, AHA may advertise and recruit applicants directly.

All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications established for the job classification. Educational, training, and experience requirements vary by position and must be met before appointment.
