The Amsterdam Housing Authority Section 8 Rental Assistance Programs are designed to provide decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing to low income families in private housing throughout the community. The Section 8 rental assistance programs are a three-way partnership between the Amsterdam Housing Authority, the family and the landlord of the housing unit.

Do you have difficulty paying your rent?
Would you like to live in a better place, but can't afford to?
Do you want to stay where you are now living and need help in paying your rent?
Does your total annual income from all family members and all sources add up to less, but not greater, than income limits set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development? h

If you answered YES to any of these questions, you may be eligible for rental assistance.

 

Applications and additional information are available at the Amsterdam Housing Authority office at 52 Division Street, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All eligible applicants are placed on the waiting list. Applicants will be notified by mail when their name reaches the top of the list. It is the applicant's responsibility to notify the Amsterdam Housing Authority of a change of address.
